The KCB Play Institute’s Approach
At the KCB Play Institute, we understand that play is not just fun and games for children, but it is also a critical part of their learning and development. As such, we specialize in nurturing children’s love for learning through play, recognizing that play is an essential component of therapy.
Research has shown that play is a child’s primary means of learning, developing, interacting, and growing. When a child lacks the necessary skills needed to play and interact with others and their environment, their functional ability to communicate, play, and create suffers, which can limit the skills they potentially acquire.
Through play, children can develop critical thinking skills, creativity, problem-solving skills, and the ability to generate new ideas. Our skilled occupational and speech therapy play-based model provides our patients with experiences that help them acquire new skills and abilities with independence while reaching functional goals and gaining a sense of confidence and eagerness to progress faster.
Our patients of all ages use play to aid them in developing:
At the KCB Play Institute, we believe in putting families at the center of our care services. Our main goal is to promote the health and well-being of children and their families by fostering respectful partnerships between families and professionals. We appreciate and honor the unique strengths, cultures, traditions, and expertise that both families and professionals bring to the table in this relationship.
